GLOBAL RUNNING DAY VIRTUAL RACE

Celebrated annually on the first Wednesday of June, Global Running Day is a global celebration dedicated to the joy of running and its positive impact on physical and mental well-being. Observed annually on the first Wednesday of June, this event unites runners of all skill levels—whether beginners or experienced athletes—to embrace the sport and inspire an active lifestyle.

Participants from around the world join organised races, group runs, or solo jogs to commemorate the day.

Global Running Day also promotes inclusivity, encouraging people of all ages and abilities to move at their own pace. Many organisations and communities host special events, challenges, and virtual runs, making it a worldwide movement that fosters fitness, camaraderie, and personal achievement.

WHAT’S INVOLVED?

Run, walk or jog any distance on Global Running Day (3rd June 2026).  We also accept treadmill activities.

WHAT’S INCLUDED?

All participants will receive a beautiful black finishers medal for their achievement. This medal comes with a plain colour ribbon.

Sharing your activities, photos and the story behind your run on social media platforms is a great way to keep yourself motivated and encourages others. 

Frequently Asked Questions

A virtual challenge is done on a particular date or dates and sometimes at a specified distance. You can run, jog or walk, as fast or as slow as you like, anywhere you want. You’re in complete control. All participants will receive a medal. You can send your evidence after you have finished your challenge. Please contact us if you need more information about how virtual races work.  

Yes you can. However, please note that there may be increased postage charge as medals are sent at Royal Mail’s international rates. 

There may also be extra import duty and custom taxes depending on your country. The Running Bug is unable to advise on these charges as there differ from country to country. We recommend you contact your local tax office. 

Complete and attach your evidence to our secure submission form on our Submit Your Evidence page. You can take a screenshot of your activity from any running, walking or exercise app and attach it onto the form. We also accept camera photos of treadmill displays. 

We have a variety of medals available from aluminium, acrylic to wooden and hybrid.

We also offer more expensive 3D, custom-shaped medals made from zinc alloy and gold-plated. These types of medals come with stylish, printed ribbons.
