We turn everyday miles into something worth celebrating.

The Running Bug is a virtual running community for people who run their own way — on treadmills, trails, pavements and prams. You choose the challenge, run it anywhere in the world, and a real medal lands on your doormat.

Our story

It started with one runner who kept quitting.

In 2014 our founder had a drawer full of half-finished training plans and not a single race photo. Running felt like a test she kept failing — too slow, too busy, too self-conscious to show up at a start line.

So she made a deal with herself: pick a distance, run it anywhere, and reward it properly. She ordered a medal, ran her miles on a wet Tuesday evening, and told a few friends. Within a month there were fifty of them.

Twelve years later, The Running Bug is a global community built on that same idea — the run counts because you did it, not because anyone was watching.

What we believe

Four beliefs behind everything we make.

Every Miles Count

It doesn’t matter how fast you go. Moving forward is what matters.

Run Your Way

Run, walk or jog wherever and whenever is convenient for you.

Achievements Should Feel Special

That’s why we put so much effort into creating memorable challenges and premium medals.

We’re Better Together

Running may be individual, but the achievement is better shared.

The journey

Six steps from first mile to medal.

01

Pick your challenge

Choose a distance or a themed streak that fits your month.

02

Set your own goal

Days, weeks or a single push — you decide the shape of it.

03

Run anywhere

Treadmill, trail, seafront or school run. It all counts.

04

Log your miles

Sync your watch or add distances by hand in seconds.

05

Watch progress grow

Streaks, badges and a map that fills in as you go.

06

Get your medal

Finish, and we post a weighty enamel medal to your door.

The medals

Designed to be worn, not filed away.

Every challenge has its own medal: 70mm of cast metal, hand-finished enamel colour and a printed ribbon that tells you exactly what you did. Collect a series and they line up into a story of your year.
