In 2026, Dave is taking on a challenge that is deeply personal โ€” and he needs your support to make it count.

June 2026 marks Daveโ€™s 30th birthday, a milestone that should have been filled with celebration. But sadly, his mum, Marcia Slater, wonโ€™t be there to see it.

Marcia passed away from cancer in 2022 โ€” heartbreakingly, just 8 weeks after being diagnosed.

A loss like that doesnโ€™t fade. It changes a person forever. And for Dave, itโ€™s become the driving force behind a mission to turn pain into purpose โ€” and grief into something that can help others.

Thatโ€™s why heโ€™s committing to something big in 2026 โ€” because cancer doesnโ€™t stop, and neither should the fight against it.

Daveโ€™s Running Challenge: 30km Every Month in 2026

Throughout the entire year of 2026, Dave will complete at least 30 kilometres of activity every single month โ€” through a combination of running, walking, and cycling.

Why 30km?
Because it represents 30 years of life, and Dave is determined to make this milestone mean more than just another birthday โ€” he wants it to stand for hope, strength, and real change.

Cancer Research UK continues to push forward with life-saving research, earlier diagnosis, and improved treatment โ€” but they canโ€™t do it without people stepping in to help.
