In 2026, Dave is taking on a challenge that is deeply personal — and he needs your support to make it count.

June 2026 marks Dave’s 30th birthday, a milestone that should have been filled with celebration. But sadly, his mum, Marcia Slater, won’t be there to see it.

Marcia passed away from cancer in 2022 — heartbreakingly, just 8 weeks after being diagnosed.

A loss like that doesn’t fade. It changes a person forever. And for Dave, it’s become the driving force behind a mission to turn pain into purpose — and grief into something that can help others.

That’s why he’s committing to something big in 2026 — because cancer doesn’t stop, and neither should the fight against it.

Dave’s Running Challenge: 30km Every Month in 2026

Throughout the entire year of 2026, Dave will complete at least 30 kilometres of activity every single month — through a combination of running, walking, and cycling.

Why 30km?
Because it represents 30 years of life, and Dave is determined to make this milestone mean more than just another birthday — he wants it to stand for hope, strength, and real change.

Fundraising target: £300 for Cancer Research UK

Cancer affects 1 in 2 people in their lifetime.

That means almost everyone reading this will be affected — whether it’s a parent, partner, friend, sibling, colleague… or yourself.

Cancer Research UK continues to push forward with life-saving research, earlier diagnosis, and improved treatment — but they can’t do it without people stepping in to help.

Here’s how YOU can help

If you can donate, please do — today. Whatever you can afford…

Every donation helps fund research that saves lives. And when many people give a little, it becomes something powerful.

Support Dave. Share this. Help him reach his target.
